This wise phrase 学而不思则网  思而不学则殆 means “learning without thinking leads to confusion and limitation; thinking without learning leads to danger and emptiness”.

It is one of the many words of wisdom written by The Great Sage, Confucius (孔夫子), more than 2500 years ago. It teaches us that to be effective in study, we have to both absorb the knowledge (by learning) and expand its scope (by thinking).
